Dr. Au Eong is a Medical Director and Senior Consultant at International Eye Cataract Retina Centre. His areas of practice include vitreoretinal and cataract.
Dr. Au Eong obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees from the National University of Singapore in 1989, and his Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) degree in 1995. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Royal College of Physicians of Glasgow, and the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow, as well as a Fellow of the Singapore Medical College. He is also a Fellow and Member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in the United Kingdom.
After completing six years of basic and advanced ophthalmology training in Singapore, Dr. Au Eong underwent specialized training in vitreous and retinal diseases and surgery at the University of Manchester and the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital (1998–1999), and completed further training at the Wilmer Eye Institute and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, USA (1999–2000).
He previously served as Director of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Alexander Hospital, Adjunct Associate Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and Deputy Director and Head of the Research Division at the National Eye Institute, National University Hospital, Singapore.
Dr. Au Eong is an outstanding surgeon and clinical scientist actively engaged in research and innovation across multiple fields of ophthalmology. He has published over 237 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and scientific papers in local and international journals. His clinical expertise includes vitreoretinal diseases, cataracts, and comprehensive ophthalmic care.
