Biography

Dr. Pamela Chan is Consultant Psychiatrist at The Psychiatric & Behavioural Medicine Clinic and The Psychotherapy Clinic for adults and children.

Prior to private practice, Dr. Chan worked as a psychiatrist at the Charing Cross Hospital in London, U.K., where she gained experience in group and individual psychotherapy, psychogeriatric mental handicap, perinatal and liaison psychiatry. After becoming a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Dr. Chan returned to Singapore and served as a lecturer in National University of Singapore (NUS)’s Department of Psychological Medicine. At the organizational level, she has been a consultant to many corporations and institutions on managing stress, transitions and lifestyle changes.

Dr. Chan graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor (MBBS) from NUS in 1986 and has rotated around specialties such as Internal Medicine, Neurology, General Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynecology at National University Hospital before embarking on her psychiatry specialist training.

Apart from clinical work, Dr. Chan is also active in research with multiple published journals on topics surrounding depression, eating disorders and women and mental health. She also serves as an external examiner in behavioral medicine for The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG).

Dr Chan's specialty interests are depression, eating disorders, group and individual psychotherapy, perinatal and liaison psyhchiatry, psychogeriatric mental handicap and women's mental health.
