Biography

Dr. Teo Yee Hong is an Orthopedic Surgery specialist. He graduated in 1998 from the National University of Ireland and has been a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK since 2001. He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2002, with a Master of Medicine (Orthopedic Surgery) and went on to complete his advanced specialist training in Orthopedic Surgery in 2006: the FRCSEd (Orth) examination held in affiliation with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Dr. Teo is also a recipient of the prestigious NUH Young Doctor Award for his work in Stem Cell Therapy in 2003 and he furthered his clinical fellowship in Joint Replacement Surgery in Melbourne, Australia, following his HMDP (High Manpower Development Program) scholarship award by the Ministry of Health, Singapore.

He currently holds an appointment as the Head of Adult Reconstruction, Department of Orthopedics with Tan Tock Seng Hospital. His expertise covers orthopedic management and surgery with sub-specialties in hip and knee replacements. He has had vast experience in Computer-Assisted Orthopedic Surgery (CAOS) and the use of individualized customization for minimally invasive (MIS) hip and knee replacements.

Dr. Teo was amongst the early pioneers of patient specific instrumentation: one the latest advances in personalized joint replacement that allows cutting edge precision in implanting knee replacement to every patient’s specific requirements. He has performed 250 such surgeries between November 2010 and December 2012. His work has thus led to significant improvements in patients’ mobility and quality of life.

Dr. Teo is an appointed Clinical Lecturer in Orthopedic Surgery for the National University of Singapore Faculty of Medicine and a Core Faculty Member of the NHG Residency Program. He has widely published in peer-reviewed medical journals and is also an established speaker in regional and international orthopedic conferences.

An avid long-distance runner, Dr. Teo is passionate about helping people regain mobility to live life to the fullest, no matter how young or old. Having grown up in Singapore, he is fluent in English and Mandarin as well as conversant in Hokkien, Teochew, Cantonese and Malay.

Dr Teo's specialty interests are revision knee replacement, robotic knee replacement, total knee replacement, total hip replacement, sports surgery, trauma surgery and unicondylar knee replacement.
