Dr. Chua Yi Xiu is a Senior Consultant in Diagnostic Radiology, with subspecialty expertise in Interventional Radiology with Farrer Park Hospital's Diagnostic Imaging Suite.
He had served as Head of the Division of Interventional Radiology and Head of Computed Tomography (CT) Imaging Services at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, where he also holds the role of Associate Program Director for the Radiology Residency Programme.
Dr. Chua graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and a Master of Medicine (Radiology) from the National University of Singapore. He subsequently attained Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR), United Kingdom. He is fully registered with the Singapore Medical Council and is a member of both the Singapore Radiological Society and The Royal College of Radiologists.
Dr. Chua is experienced in performing a broad range of image-guided minimally invasive procedures and diagnostic imaging. He has played a key role in expanding interventional radiology services, introducing advanced procedures such as thyroid nodule ablation, SpyGlass™ percutaneous transhepatic biliary endoscopy, and laparoscopic ultrasound-guided microwave ablation for liver tumours. His clinical interests centre on delivering precise, minimally invasive treatments that can reduce recovery time while improving patient outcomes.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. Chua is actively involved in medical education and service development. As a core faculty member of the Radiology Residency Programme, he regularly teaches radiology residents and conducts multidisciplinary teaching sessions for intensive care and specialist teams. He has also led several cross-disciplinary initiatives to strengthen collaboration between radiology and surgical specialties.
An active contributor to academic medicine, Dr. Chua has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in interventional radiology and diagnostic imaging, with research spanning tumour ablation, vascular interventions, neuroradiology, and image-guided therapies. He is also a regular speaker at regional scientific meetings and professional conferences, reflecting his commitment to advancing the field of interventional radiology.
