Biography
Dr. Jesse Hu is a general surgeon with subspecialty interests in breast and endocrine surgery. Her specialties are in managing benign and malignant breast and thyroid conditions, encompassing breast cancer, breast pain, breast lumps, breastfeeding problems, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, and neck lumps.
Dr. Hu firmly believes every patient deserves a tailored treatment that best enables them to live life to the fullest after treatment. Her dual expertise in cancer removal and plastic surgery techniques expands the design of individualized treatments, leading to holistic patient outcomes. Drawing from her personal experience as a woman and working mother, she advises her patients on their treatments in an approachable and empathetic manner.
Dr. Hu was formerly a senior consultant at the National University Health System, caring for patients at National University Hospital (NUH) and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. She was the tumor group lead for breast oncology at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore, and the lead for JCI accreditation, which focused on patient safety and care in the hospital. She was also the lead for value-driven outcomes in breast cancer patients.
After graduating; and completing surgical training at NUH, she was admitted as a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. She subsequently completed two Health Manpower Development Plan award fellowships at Oxford University Hospital, UK, where she further subspecialized in oncoplastic breast surgery (for breast cancer treatment), and endocrine and thyroid surgery.
Dr. Hu is actively involved in promoting breast cancer awareness through medical talks in Singapore and in overseas medical missions to empower all women to make the right choice for their health. Outside of work, she continues to shape the lives of her three children (while tending to a stubborn vegetable garden which supports her kitchen adventures).
