Biography

Dr. Lu Wei is a gastroenterologist at Farrer Park Hospital, Mount Alvernia Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital, Parkway East Hospital, and Mount Elizabeth Hospitals, Singapore. Her subspecialist clinical interests include cirrhosis, fatty liver, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, liver cancers, and pancreatobiliary disorders.

Dr. Lu is an accomplished endoscopist experienced in performing diagnostic and screening scopes such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy (including advanced imaging techniques, e.g. narrow-band imaging), and video capsule endoscopy. She also performs therapeutic endoscopic procedures such as polypectomy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) insertion, endoscopic treatment of bleeding ulcers, ligation, and injection of varices. She built the endoscopic ultrasound service at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) and served on the hospital’s endoscopy committee.

She served full-time in the public sector for 16 years. After obtaining her basic medical degree (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2006, she underwent internal medicine and gastroenterology training at National University Hospital. She attained Membership of the Royal College of Physician (MRCP, UK) in 2010, Master of Medicine (MMed) in 2011, and gastroenterology specialist accreditation in 2013. Subsequently she pursued further training in liver disorders and endoscopic ultrasound overseas under the auspices of the Ministry of Health’s 2016 Healthcare Manpower Development Program. Upon returning, she developed NTFGH’s endoscopic ultrasound service and worked as Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist before leaving for private practice.

Dr. Lu was a clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. She received the Outstanding Young Undergraduate Tutor Award for 2014/2015. She was a clinical physician faculty member for the National University Health System Gastroenterology Senior Residency Program and was involved in teaching gastroenterology trainees. She is also a clinic preceptor to Master of Nursing students. She strongly believes in the importance of public awareness and knowledge of digestive diseases, and was invited speaker for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Support Group Public Forum, National Foundation for Digestive Diseases Day, and World Hepatitis Day.

Dr. Lu's specialty interests are digestive cancer screening, liver disorders, endoscopic ultrasound and pancreatobiliary disorders.
