With many years of experience under his belt, Dr. Lee Chin Li is a general surgeon who specialises in liver and pancreas cancer surgery. He is also skilled in performing complex minimally invasive (key hole) surgery of liver, pancreas and bile duct cancers and complex pancreatic and liver surgeries. Apart from performing complex surgeries, Dr. Lee’s scope of practice includes skin lumps/ abscesses, haemorrhoids, hernia surgery, endoscopy and colonic surgery. Dr. Lee is described by many to be empathetic and pleasant, and constantly seeks to provide the best quality of care to his patients.
Prior to private practice, Dr. Lee was the founding Head of Division of Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery and Consultant General Surgeon at Jurong Health Campus, National University Health System (NUHS). He was instrumental in building up the unit to provide comprehensive general surgical and complex Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary services. He also frequently visits the centre of excellence in Laparoscopic and Hepato-Pancreatic and Biliary (HPB) surgeries in Taiwan, Korea and Japan to keep updated with recent advancement in surgeries and to exchange ideas with renowned experts.
Dr. Lee graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, U.K. and undertook his basic and advanced surgical training in Singapore. He further obtained his Membership of Royal College of Surgeons from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, U.K. and Master in Medicine (Surgery) from the National University Singapore (NUS) before being accredited as a specialist upon obtaining his Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
An active educator, he is a clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and a constant examiner for medical students in the MBBS examinations. He often lectures in local and regional courses on medical and nursing education. For his effort in education, he was awarded the Jurong Health Excellence in Teaching Award (2015/2016) and Best Tutor Award by NUS’ Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
Dr Lee's specialty interest is liver cancer, bile duct cancer, gallbladder cancer, pancreas cancer, and minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery.
