Dr. Adrian Lau is a Specialist Orthopedic Surgeon in Singapore with more than 20 years of clinical experience, currently practising at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. He is best known for his expertise in primary and complex hip and knee replacement surgery (arthroplasty)
His path to specialist practice reflects a commitment to excellence. After graduating with his MBBS from the National University of Singapore, he completed his Master of Medicine in Orthopedic Surgery and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Trauma and Orthopedic Surgery. He was awarded the Ministry of Health Training Scholarship and, in 2015, completed subspecialty training in revision hip and knee surgery at the London Health Sciences Centre in Ontario, Canada. He then undertook a second fellowship at the Nuffield Orthopedic Centre in Oxford, where he gained expertise in unicompartmental (partial) knee replacements.
His clinical skills span the full spectrum of hip and knee care: total and partial knee replacements, total hip replacements via the minimally invasive direct anterior approach, complex and revision arthroplasty, prosthetic joint infections, periprosthetic fractures, and arthroscopic knee surgery including meniscus repairs, ligament reconstructions and cartilage repair. He is equally adept with robotic and conventional joint replacement techniques. He was Director of Hip and Knee Surgery at Changi General Hospital, where he remains a Visiting Consultant, and served as clinical champion for the Ministry of Health's Value-Driven Outcomes workgroups for hip and knee replacement. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and is regularly invited to lecture and instruct on hip and knee replacement locally and regionally. A dedicated educator of junior doctors, he has received multiple teaching awards.
