Dr. Ngoi Sing Shang has been in private practice for 20 years. Prior to this, he was a consultant surgeon at the National University Hospital (NUH), before taking up the appointment of visiting consultant at NUH and Adjunct Associate Professor of Surgery at National University of Singapore (NUS).
Dr. Ngoi has the privilege as a recipient of many scholarships namely Local Merit Scholarship in Medicine, Summer Course Scholarship in Sophia University (Japan), FRACS Scholarship, and Singapore Cancer Society Overseas Research Scholarship and Cornell Medical College and New York-Cancer Prevention Fund Research Scholarships.
After graduating from the NUS in 1981, he was admitted as Fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow) in 1985, Fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and completed Master of Medicine (Surgery) (Singapore) in 1986.
Dr. Ngoi also has several academic attachments at University of Hong Kong, Queen Mary Hospital, St. Marks Hospital, United Kingdom, The New York Hospital, and Cornell Medical Centre. He had also held several posts as Medical Officer, Senior Tutor, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and Consultant Surgeon at both the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and NUH.
Dr. Ngoi's specialty interests are colorectal and laparoscopic surgeries, adhesiolysis, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, endoscopy and gastroscopoy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and hernia repair.
