Dr. Daniel Phang is a doubly accredited pain medicine specialist and anesthesiologist. He is the director of Affinity Pain Clinic and The Anaesthesia and Pain Practice. He is also currently a council member in the Chapter of Pain in the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
Dr. Daniel was awarded the Singapore Armed Forces Medical Scholarship and graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2005. Thereafter, Dr. Daniel completed his specialty training as an anesthesiologist in 2012 and went on to pursue a specialty interest in Pain Management. During his fellowship year in Toronto Western Hospital, he was mentored by Professor Philip Peng and Dr. Anuj Bhatia, world renowned names in pain management. He is also one of the very few in Singapore to be awarded, by the World Institute of Pain, the Fellowship of Interventional Pain Practice and Certification in Pain Sonology.
Dr. Daniel manages a wide range of pain conditions, ranging from sports injuries, back and neck pain, cancer pain and other less well-known painful conditions. Dr. Daniel’s practice encompasses surgery sparing intervention, neuromodulation and ultrasound-guided diagnostics and intervention. Besides being proficient in assessing and managing pain conditions through the use of image-guided intervention, Dr. Daniel firmly believes that patients in pain deserve their time to be heard. This is to better formulate a management plan suited to the patient’s needs and beliefs system.
During his time as an educator, Dr. Daniel organized weekly teaching sessions at the Pain Department of Singapore General Hospital, and has taught in regional and international conferences and workshops, including those organized by the New York School of Regional Anaesthesia and the Singapore Pain Association.
Dr. Daniel was also actively involved in medical socio-civic missions in the region. He has provided realtime anesthesiology care in the field. Apart from pain education, he was also an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor and was a council member of the Pain Association of Singapore.
