Biography

Dr. Loo Wai Mun is a gastroenterologist with a wealth of clinical experience in gastroenterology and hepatology. She has subspecialty interests in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and liver-related disorders.

Dr. Loo is experienced in endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy, polypectomy, and endoscopic hemostasis. She has vast experience in the management of liver conditions. She was the clinical lead of the Fatty Liver subspecialty service at the National University Hospital (NUH) and was instrumental in establishing the Fatty Liver Subspecialty Clinic there. She developed the Metabolic Program at Alexandra Hospital (AH), involving multidisciplinary care of the metabolic risk factors spanning fatty liver and obesity.

Dr. Loo graduated from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom (UK) and subsequently continued her training in Internal Medicine in Singapore. After attaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, UK), she pursued Advanced Specialist Training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology with the National University Health System Senior Residency Program, Singapore. Upon completing her training, Dr. Loo was accredited as a gastroenterologist by the Specialists Accreditation Board of Singapore. She then served as a Consultant in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at NUH and AH.

An avid educator, Dr. Loo served as Assistant Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and was Director of Undergraduate Education in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at NUH. She was also a core faculty member of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Senior Residency Program at NUH, contributing to the training and mentoring of future gastroenterologists. At the national level, Dr. Loo currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Gastroenterological Society of Singapore.

Dr. Loo's special interests are hepatology and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
