Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is a surgical specialty of dentistry, which involves the diagnosis and management of a variety of problems involving both the bones and tissues of the oral and facial region. This includes the mouth and maxillofacial regions like the jaw, neck, and face. Surgery can be for aesthetic or medical purposes. It can be done for diseases of the hard and soft tissues in the oral and maxilofacial region, to correct facial deformity caused by congenital reasons, remove malignant facial tumours, repair damage caused by trauma such as accidents, as well as for cosmetic reasons to enhance the appearance of the mouth, jaw and face.
