A stroke occurs because the blood supply to the brain is reduced or stopped, preventing oxygen and nutrients from reaching the brain. This interruption causes brain cells of the affected part of the brain to die, damaging the brain and causing trouble with walking and speaking and obvious signs like face drooping on one side of the face, slurred speech and inability to raise the arms. Early action is crucial in reducing brain damage and other complications. There are 2 types of stroke, ischemic stroke is caused by a blood clot that blocks the vessels in the brain caused by a build-up of plaque that could be due to high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels. Ischemic strokes can also be caused by small blood clots that travel through the bloodstream and clog the arteries. Hemorrhagic stroke is due to the collapsing of the blood vessels that causes a build-up of pressure that is potentially fatal and leads to more severe damage. 

Overgrowth of cells in your brain forms masses called tumors or brain cancer. Cancerous or malignant brain tumors can multiply and disrupt the way your body works. In some instances, it can be life-threatening.

MRI, or Magnetic Resonance Imaging, is a painless and non-invasive procedure where a magnetic field and radio waves are used to view objects in your body. Radio waves are transmitted to a receiver in the machine which forms an image of the body that can be used to diagnose various health issues. Common areas that are diagnosed with MRI include the joints, brain, breasts, heart and blood vessels.

A Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan is an imaging test that uses radioactive substance to measure important body functions to show how well organs and tissues are working, which are useful for disease detection before it is evident on other imaging tests.
