Haematology

What is Hematology?

Hematology is the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Coagulation studies detect anaemia, infection, blood cancers, as well as bleeding and clotting disorders. It treats diseases that affect the production of blood and its components, such as blood cells, blood vessels, haemoglobin, bone marrow, and platelets.


What Hematology tests are available?

The list of tests we conduct are:

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)
  • Blood films for the malaria parasite/ microfilaria
  • ESR or erythrocyte sedimentation rate / Peripheral Blood Film / Reticulocytes
  • Prothrombin Time (PTINR)
  • Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time​
  • Thrombin Clotting Time​
  • D-Dimer
