Microbiology

What is Microbiology?

Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi that cause diseases. It involves the identification of bacteria and fungi that cause infections, and the recommendations for antibiotics that are effective against them. It also detects occult blood and parasites in stool.

The ability to determine the cause of a disease rapidly allows doctors to determine which treatments are the most appropriate and effective for a condition.
