Breast Implant Associated – Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) is a rare type of lymphoma that develops around breast implants. Studies show increased incidence of BIA-ALCL with the use of textured breast implants. The exact number of cases reported and information about the condition remain difficult to determine due to limitations in worldwide reporting and lack of data on the use of breast implants. Treatment for this condition involves removal of the implant and capsule. In a smaller group of patients, treatment with chemotherapy and radiation therapy may be required.
This CME Lunch Talk will cover a background of breast implants, presentation of this rare disease, relevant investigations, recommended treatment as well as the standard medical monitoring recommendations.
*This session is open to doctors and healthcare professionals only. Thank you.
