Traditionally, severe valvular heart disease is treated primarily with surgical correction. However, with the high surgical risks in a significant proportion of patients, rapid developments in percutaneous interventions have occurred in the last decade or so. This talk will summarize the indications for intervention in severe valvular heart disease and the percutaneous treatment options that are available and in development. We will also highlight the potential of early detection with AI assistance.
