People with cancer (and those close to them) can experience a range of feelings during their cancer journey. They may have feelings of loss and despair, and feel overwhelmed by the uncertainties cancer brings. lt is common to experience these at the time of diagnosis, or when there are changes in the course of cancer treatment. These emotions related to cancer often come and go, depending on the outcome from the treatment and the treatment effects.

The positive news is these emotional and social issues usually improve with time as the person gets used to their cancer diagnosis, treatment, and learns how to cope with the disease.
