Revised mask-wearing requirements at our Medical Centre and Hospital

Sandy Chua

Assistant Manager, Service Excellence

With just one day to organize and start a mandatory temperature screening roster supported by all staff from the Hospital, One Farrer Hotel, The Farrer Park Company and temporary staff as well, was a mammoth task.

When Sandy Chua started on this project, she recalled the high hurdle she had before her because she needed to match manpower needs versus ground operations needs and contend with every department’s ongoing resource needs in the short time frame.

Despite the challenges, she added that there was a silver lining in the grand scheme of things.

Sandy recalled: “Still fairly new to the job, it was great that I got to know all the department heads and how they were all very cooperative and supportive in giving their inputs, redistributing work and rescheduling to put in manpower when they were already operating on leaner team structures.”

Her enthusiasm and passion are evident as she worked closely with the multiple teams on the ground, on top of her usual work load leading service quality initiatives. Every day is a juggling act between her core work and ensuring that there are enough staff to fill in the gaps every day for screening duty.

Sandy says that working out the rosters also means that she had to be ready to backfill as an onsite screener whenever there’s an additional manpower need or gap.

Looking back, Sandy relishes knowing that the rostering initiative is now a norm and for being the one to rally everyone on the screening front.
